About Workforce Development
The Northwest Piedmont Board is a private sector led, planning and policy-making entity, appointed by local elected officials representing the six counties (Davie, Forsyth, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin) that comprise the Northwest Piedmont workforce area. The planning process, which began in July 2002, was an intense effort in a relatively short time frame. Its purpose was to gather primary and secondary data on the region's workers and businesses, to engage citizens at the local level, and finally to use the information gathered to set goals and strategies that will guide the work of the Board.
Our mission is to provide a workforce development system for Davie, Forsyth, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties that will provide a highly skilled, productive workforce for our local employers.
Our vision is to develop a successful and highly regarded workforce development/JobLink system that supports free enterprise and thus improves the quality of life for workers in our region by meeting and exceeding employment and workforce needs in the region.
