| GMAC Insurance Presents The Northwest Piedmont Service Corps Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament
The Northwest Piedmont Service Corps will present its third annual celebrity golf tournament at Winston Lake Golf Course. The program has been a fixture in the downtown area for over 17 years. It is designed to provide meaningful and constructive training, work experience and educational opportunities for young adults and At-Risk youth between the ages 17-30.
These young people gain relative work experience leading to self sufficiency through the programs many contracts and job opportunities with other City of Winston-Salem Departments. Just in case you didn’t know, the Service Corps has been responsible for the Graffiti removal in the downtown area. The Northwest Piedmont Service Corps was founded in 1990 and started as a pilot program by the City of Winston-Salem Workforce Development Department. The program now operates under the auspices of the Northwest Piedmont Council of Government and has moved to new heights. The program has now expanded to Stokes County and plans are on the way to start in Rockingham County. ig that offers young adults the chance to develop skills and become productive members of the community through Discipline, Education, Mentoring, Job Skills Training and community involvement.
On Friday May 16, 2008 the Captains Choice Golf tournament gets started at 10:00 p.m. For more information please contact Mr. Reginald D. McCaskill at (336) 761-2033.
