Stokes Volunteer Center has been notified by the Winston Salem Foundation that it is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Bill Johnson Trust to Benefit Stokes County that was established in December 1999 to honor the leadership and vision of William (Bill) Howard Johnson, Jr., who lived in Walnut Cove, Stokes County, North Carolina from May 5, 1945 until February 2, 1999.   It is his lasting gift to the people of Stokes County.

One of the visions of Bill Johnson was to have a Volunteer Center in Stokes County which would coordinate the recruitment and placement of volunteers in non-profit agencies throughtout the county. This grant will allow the Volunteer Center to continue its efforts to promote volunteerism in Stokes County.
